Xu Lingxiao's Handcrafted Jiangponi 降坡泥 Persimmon Round Teapot:

A Palmsized Treasure of Mellow Tea

Width: approx. 11cm  Height: 5.5 cm  Lid diameter: 4.5 cm V: 125ml

Xu Lingxiao's handmade Jiangponi teapots have long been renowned for their exquisite craftsmanship. This 100ml persimmon round teapot is crafted from purple clay, exhibiting a warm purplish-brown hue after firing, with a jade-like luster. Its flattened round body features smooth lines and refined workmanship, fitting comfortably in the palm with perfect ergonomics.

The persimmon round shape symbolizes "everything coming full circle," presenting dignified elegance through its plump, harmonious form. The spout pours crisply while the handle integrates seamlessly with the body. The purple clay's unique double-porosity structure makes it particularly suitable for:

Ripe pu'er: Fully developing its mellow smoothness

Aged dark tea: Softening the liquor and enhancing velvety texture

Medium-roasted rock tea: Better expressing mineral "yan yun" with concentrated aroma

This miniature teapot embodies masterful artistry. Every detail reveals Xu Lingxiao's full-handcrafted expertise. Brewing tea becomes not just a gustatory pleasure, but a silent dialogue between artisan, clay and user. Through years of use, the patina develops as tea essence merges with the clay, creating unique temporal imprints.

Characteristics of Jiangpo Ni 降坡泥 (Yixing Clay)

Unique Discovery: Found on a slope between Huanglongshan and Qinglongshan mountains during road construction ("Jiangpo" means "slope reduction"). A rare symbiotic deposit of Zini (purple clay), Hongni (red clay), and Benshan Lüni (green clay).

Scarcity: Thin ore layers make it highly valuable.

Gritty Texture: Rich in quartz/mica, excellent breathability.

Dual-Pore Structure: Combines Zini’s porosity with Hongni’s density.

Natural Oiliness: Develops a glossy patina over time.

Colors: Reddish-yellow or yellowish-red (varies with kiln temperature), often with metallic speckles ("starry effect").

Tea Pairing: Best for oolong and pu-erh, enhances tea’s richness.

Crafting Challenges: High shrinkage rate (~10%), low yield due to fragility.
