Tongmu Guan "Golden Palace" Zheng Shan Tongmuguan Hongcha (Unsmoked)
—— The Wild Honey Ballad of Wuyi Mountain
The Untouched Legacy
Deep within the primeval forests of Tongmu Guan—a protected core zone of Wuyi Mountain National Park—this unsmoked Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong captures the tea’s original 17th-century character, before pine smoke became a hallmark for export.
Grown at 1,000 meters, where mist veils ancient tea trees, each leaf is a testament to unadulterated terroir.
Tasting Journey
Dry Leaf
Tightly curled, releasing layered aromas:
Wild mountain quince touched by morning dew
Overripe plums nestled under autumn leaves
A delicate finish of orchid
The Brew
First Infusion (90°C, 10s)
Pale amber liquor. The palate meets lychee-like sweetness, trailed by a cooling sensation—like chewing fresh mint.
Third Infusion (95°C, 15s)
Deep gold as barley malt. Wild honey viscosity dances with a hint of Sichuan pepper spice, ending with the tart-sweetness of Wuyi’s jujube cakes.
Seventh Infusion (Boiling, 30s)
The finish echoes sugarcane juice, while the empty cup whispers the Shui Xian cultivar’s signature "bamboo leaf" aroma—as if steeping fresh phrynium leaves in spring water.
Brewing Suggestions:
3g per 150ml | 95°C water
First infusion: 30s
Subsequent infusions: +10s each
Best enjoyed in porcelain or Yixing clay teaware
